This trough, I am told, is not in its original location but it now stands in Skeldersgate, just a few yards west of the bridge.

On the other side an inscription reads: 1905  A RIGHTEOUS MAN REGARDETH THE LIFE OF HIS BEAST

 

And here's another, rather similar, from Acomb, York, on the corner of the Croft and Wetherby road.
